Powerlifting measures an athletes success in the Bench Press, Deadlift and Squat.
Doc and Jack only competed in the Bench Press.
Lifters can choose to compete Raw or In Gear.
Raw lifters wear only a singlet with a T-shirt underneath, socks, shoes a belt and wrist wraps.
In Gear adds a specially made lifting shirt/suit that is so tight it enables lifters to move a LOT more weight.
All records are on the web site www.goheavy.net. They are listed by age, weight and category.
For Bench Press there are three judges. The lifter takes the weight off the rack and holds in the top position.
Once the judge says "start", the lifter brings the weight to his chest and pauses until the judges says "go". The
bar cannot vary more than one inch from parrallel. The bar must keep moving. Feet must be flat with no movement and the lifters butt cannot raise off the bench. The judges then hold up a white card (for Good) or a red card (for No Lift).
Only certified judges with the USA Powerlifting Association (USAPL) are qualified to judge for an athlete attempting a new American Record. It takes 30+ days after a record is set before it is added to the database. This is a drug free competition, athletes are randomly drug tested.
